UNAOC-EF Summer School: Call for applications
The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is collaborating with EF Education First (EF) in the context of the first UNAOC-EF Summer School, which will take place in Tarrytown, NY, USA, from 24 to 31 of August 2013.

Name of Organization: Youth Synergy for Development, Cameroon
Description of Organization: Youth Synergy for Development (SYJEDE) was established in 2004 by a diverse group of Cameroonian young people aged between 17 and 32. The overall goal of the organization is to promote and to achieve sustainable education on peace, democracy, freedom, human rights, and the Millennium Development Goals. Youth Synergy for Development works on the organization of educational activities, the development of community projects, and the integration between youth entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
Project Description: The project aimed to provide youth with an educational framework, that could motivate them to consider further how they could contribute to the realization of human rights and how to take action for the realization of their own rights. The project consisted of a series of training sessions, that aimed to foster peace among youth living in the Cameroon border areas close to Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Gabon, Nigeria and Congo. The training sessions involved marginalized youth. Over 250 participants were trained and had the opportunity to foster mutual understanding through dialogue. The sessions were oriented to meet the specific requirements of each of the border towns, putting a special emphasis on breaking ethnic, cultural, religious and political barriers.
