God and Me
Name of organization: Respect Magazine (France /Global)
Description of organization: “Respect” is a French quarterly, printed magazine, launched in 2004, and distributed nationwide. Led by a pool of writers from very diverse origins and backgrounds, Respect addresses social and cultural issues, such as, religion, identity, employment, social development or arts through the angle of diversity. Respects’ work is to bring out and cross the views and stories of people who hardly find space of expression nor representation in mainstream media – especially young people from ethnic minorities and underprivileged neighborhoods. Respects’ duty is also to promote diversity, by blowing up stereotypes and “one-sided” approaches, giving keys to mutual understanding and creating dialogue. Respects’ team has been awarded for the innovation of their media and the quality of their journalistic work.
Project description: The “God and Me” project allowed Respect Magazine to collect and publish testimonies about religion, spirituality, dogmas and traditions from youth from diverse backgrounds, particularly from disadvantaged areas and communities that suffer misrepresentation and discrimination. “God and me” involved young people from France, USA, Lebanon and Algeria (more than 100 participants were involved in the project).
Results: Project implemented
